Enjoy our family's 32 acre eco-wonder property that features forested mountain walking trails, two small ponds, seasonal waterfall, and the Potomac River that runs through it. Perfect private retreat for nature enthusiasts, writers, artists, musicians, contemplatives, and small families. MountainTop got its namesake over 30 years ago for the small mountain plateau that resides at the top of the property, just a short hike from the cabins and campsites. One can easily find the soothing voice of water nearby at the seasonal waterfall or alongside the flowing river. Rejuvenate with friends, families, nature lovers, and contemplatives. Mountaintop offers superb stargazing, swimming, fishing, hiking, strenuous mountain biking, camping, serenity, peace, and connective nature immersion. There are currently three sites: the MountainTop Cabin (sleeps up to 4); the Retreat Cabin (sleeps up to 4): and the Fern Grove campsite (sleeps up to 4). You can book a cabin or the campsite for your family, or the whole place for a small group by booking each site--that will ensure privacy. Last year we hosted wellness retreats for small groups at this little oasis tucked in the mountains of gorgeous West Virginia. Would stay again
Nice quaint cabin and property perfect for a weekend getaway. The host was great, and you have everything you need to go off the grid. Definitely worth the stay, nice hiking around the property and time for camp fires and fishing.

Quaint, Quiet, and Cute
Had a great time in this cool little cabin in the mountains. My wife, kids, and dogs had space to sleep thanks to the bunk beds, and relax thanks to the back deck being enclosed so the pups can come and go. My son loved fishing off the back desk, and the trails were nicely cleared. All that with a fire pit, stocked kitchen, and WiFi to stream movies, what else could you ask for. Thanks Ed for your help and quick answers to any questions I had. See you next time.

It's a beautiful setting and it helped our family feel close to nature for a weekend getaway. My daughters had a blast exploring the property and the woods, swimming in the pond, and roasting marshmallows. It's a great location for star gazing as well, and we had a strange combination of lighting strikes off in the distance while the sky above was quite clear enough to see the milky way. Ed is a great host - very responsive and obviously cares about the experience of his guests. One last little plus is the cabin is very well stocked.

We absolutely loved staying here this weekend. Our dog enjoyed all the amentities for dogs (dog dish, toys, loads of land to explore). There is also a gate on the deck for safety of dogs. We had the whole property to ourselves so we explored everything possible. Ed lays out the property pretty well so you know what to explore. We went fishing and also visited a local diner. But this is truly a fully equipped home. We were surprised with how prepared this place was. They have everything you could possibly need. Ed is very good at answer texts and even accommodating.

Over the river and into the woods…
Mountain Top definitely made for a wonderful getaway! Our family of four enjoyed our stay in our own special ways: playing in the pond, making crepes out on the deck, exploring the trails high and low, lounging with book, watching the stars (meteor shower), etc. Ed and his family have an amazing property, and we’re so grateful for them sharing it with others. We would be happy to visit Mountain Top again!
